Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most popular animes of modern times thanks to its enthralling narrative and, in particular, its vast cast of characters. Although Yuji Itadori, Satoru Gojo, and Mugumi Fushiguro often take the spotlight as the main characters, the show has a variety of characters that add depth and another dimension to the story.
As is often the case, characters get sidelined by more popular individuals despite many characters in Jujutsu Kaisen offering value. As a result, certain characters are underrated and underappreciated despite bringing a unique element to the show, such as being badass, funny, or even reliable.
8 Masamichi Yaga
The Eccentric Principal
Masamichi Yaga is the principal at Tokyo Jujutsu High School, where he ranks higher than everyone, including Gojo. In his role as principal, Masamichi acts very much in line with his occupation, being stern and demanding towards students and teachers. While having a towering appearance, Masamichi has a comedic side that adds another layer to the character, making him one of the funniest in the show.
Through all the significant events in Jujutsu Kaisen so far, Masamichi has been ever-present as he seeks to protect the jujutsu world from the curses that emerge.
7 Kasumi Miwa
Kyoto Second-Year Student
In Jujutsu Kaisen, Miwa is one of the Kyoto Jujutsu High School students. Although not the strongest, Miwa makes up for it with her joyful and kind attitude towards others. Despite many of the Kyoto students seemingly having nasty streaks in them, Miwa differentiates herself from the pack as she strives for kindness, not trouble. When the Kyoto students are ordered to kill Yuji at the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event, Miwa initially does not want to follow their orders.
In contrast, the rest of the group obediently follows the orders, much to Miwa’s dismay and frustration. Miwa’s thoughts and opinions regarding Yuji show that Miwa has a more considerate heart than her classmates.
6 Jogo
Special Grade Curse
Throughout the show, Jogo has been a prominent villain, with several battles to his name. As a special grade curse, Jogo is immensely powerful, being one of the strongest curses around. Jogo is one of the few characters who has fought Gojo and Sukuna, the strongest individuals in the jujutsu world. Although unsuccessful, the accomplishment of going toe-to-toe with the pair is a challenging feat to achieve.
Jogo’s power is severely above what most sorcerers and curses can achieve, with Jogo defeating Maki, Nanami, and Naobito (whom many consider strong Jujutsu Sorcerers) within seconds.
5 Utahime
Kyoto Jujutsu High School Teacher
As a Kyoto Jujutsu High School teacher, Utahime is responsible for all the Kyoto students, such as Aoi Todo, Mai Zenin, and Miwa. Besides being a teacher, Utahime is a semi-grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer, making her remarkably strong in the jujutsu world. Along with all the chaos a teacher endures, Utahime also has to put up with Gojo, who infuriates Utahime unlike anyone else.
Utahime is also responsible for discovering the mole among the Kyoto students, which was revealed to be Mechamaru. Utahime has been ever-present throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, bringing constant value and support to others to help Jujutsu Sorcerers.
4 Mei Mei
A Jujutsu Sorcerer With An Eye For Luxury
Mei is one of the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, being a grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer. Mei is first introduced in the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event as she acts as a spectator alongside the teachers and principals. It’s only in season 2 that Mei’s skill as a sorcerer is revealed, as she showcases her cursed energy in the Shibuya arc against powerful foes.
While Yuji splits off from Mei early into the Shibuya arc, Mei handles herself well alongside her younger brother Ui Ui. The pair go up against and defeat possessed Suguru Geto’s special grade curse, showing Mei to be an extremely strong Jujutsu Sorcerer.
3 Akari Nitta
A Resilient Auxiliary Manager
Akari is one of the two auxiliary managers known in Jujutsu Kaisen, alongside Kiyotaka Ijichi. As part of Akari’s role, she must manage and keep an eye out on behalf of Jujutsu Sorcerers on a mission. Akari takes up this task as she supports Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi while they investigate a string of curse-related deaths in the Death Painting arc.
Later in the Shibuya arc, Akari is targeted alongside other auxiliary managers by Haruta Shigemo, a curse user known for being lucky. Despite accumulating injuries, Akari escapes alongside Nobara, being one of the few managers to survive, showing her resilience.
2 Kiyotaka Ijichi
Loyal Auxiliary Manager
Although Ijichi may be considered an easy target by some characters, his loyalty and support make him severely underappreciated. Sporting a suit, Ijichi is seen as an auxiliary manager who aids Jujutsu Sorcerers when on a mission. Ijichi shows a lot of care towards characters such as Gojo and Yuji, and he gets anxious when Yuji heads out to stop Junpei against his wishes.
As the head manager at Tokyo Jujutsu High School, Ijichi manages students and teachers, with even the most powerful Jujutsu Sorcerer, Gojo, falling into this category.
1 Toge Inumaki
Talented Cursed Speech User
Inumaki may only use very little speech, but the cursed speech user knows how to make his voice count when it matters. Being a semi-grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer, Inumaki is among the strongest at Tokyo Jujutsu High School, thanks to his highly powerful cursed speech. Despite being unable to communicate with his classmates verbally, Inumaki shows his care for his friends often in battle. Inumaki has rescued Megumi a couple of times from danger against Todo and Hanami, with the fight against Hanami leading to him overdoing his limit to save his friend.
In the Shibuya arc, Yuji tries to head towards Gojo, only to be stopped by the horde of curses killing innocent people trapped in the Veil. Inumaki arrives in time to save civilians from the curses, allowing Yuji to continue rescuing Gojo, thanks to Inumaki’s support.
