Demon Slayer’s Swordsmith Village Arc

The third season of Demon Slayer adapted the “Swordsmith Village” arc, where Tanjiro traveled to a tucked away village to ask his swordsmith Hotaru Haganezuka to forge him a new sword. There, he encounters a fellow Demon Slayer, Genya Shinazugawa, the younger brother of the Wind Hashira, the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji and Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito. Tanjiro takes the time to train with one of the young swordsmiths, Kotetsu, but the arrival of two of the Upper Ranks interrupts their training time as the demons seek to destroy the village and the Demon Slayers.

Produced by ufotable, Haruo Sotozaki directed the third season with Akira Matsushima as the character designer and chief animation. Natsuki Hanae voices Tanjiro Kamado, with Akari Kitō as Tanjiro’s sister Nezuko and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Genya. Kana Hanazawa portrays Mitsuri Kanroji with Kengo Kawanishi as Muichiro Tokito.

Adapted from Koyoharu Gotouge’s best-selling manga series, Demon Slayer follows Tanjiro’s quest to turn his sister back into a human being after the demon Muzan Kibutsuji slaughters his entire family, leaving only Nezuko alive but as a demon. However, Nezuko’s condition cannot change until a cure has been developed and a cure cannot be created until Tanjiro retrieves the blood from the Twelve Kizuki, Muzan’s twelve most powerful demons. The manga ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020 and has over 150 million copies in circulation by February 2021.

The final episode of Demon Slayer “Swordsmith Village” arc launches on June 18.
