The Yeagerists were a group of Eldian nationalists in Attack On Titan. Inspired by the examples of characters like Eren and Floch, they rallied behind them and served as their military before and during the events of the Rumbling. What made the Yeagerists especially difficult for the heroes to defeat is that many of them were former friends and colleagues.

Unlike cutting down Pure Titans or enemy Marleyans, every life taken by the Yeagerist menace was viscerally personal and emotionally difficult to stomach. All the same, the Allied Coalition could not sit idly by while the Yeagerists attempted to obliterate the entire world.

Updated on May 11th, 2023 by Ajay Aravind: Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan has earned its name as one of Shonen’s Dark 3 anime series, an epithet it fully deserves. The story’s narrative beats are distinctly violent with political undertones, far more than shonen counterparts like My Hero Academia and Bleach. The formation of the Yeagerists sets the stage for the endgame, but the story ends up moving in a direction that fans failed to expect. As such, we’ve updated this list of all the notable Yeagerists in Attack on Titan.

9 Hitch

Hitch was once a member of the Military Police who chose the easy life over one of grave peril, also known as joining the Survey Corps. Marlo Freudenberg’s willingness to sacrifice himself for Paradis had a great impact on her since she counted him as a close personal friend.

During the Rumbling, Hitch was the first to uncover Annie after she had been released from her crystal cocoon. However, since Annie had already cut herself, she could transform into a Titan at any time. As a result of this predicament, Hitch was coerced into helping Annie escape.

8 Daz

Daz was a skittish man who proved more intimidated by Titans than almost anyone else. He was so driven by fear that he almost needed to be forced to fight. Therefore, it made sense for him to be equally uncertain about the outside world and more willing to destroy them than make peace.

During the attack on the Yeagerist compound, Daz was one of the first people that Armin and Connie came across. Quickly suspicious of their true allegiances, Daz’s fear was finally proven right when Connie cut him down alongside his partner, Samuel. Given Daz’s lack of skill, the only issue surrounding his death was the grief that came after.

7 Surma

Surma was a member of the Cadet Corps who doubted Keith Shadis’ methods. He was of the opinion that although the government may have been replaced, there had been little value in learning Titan killing techniques now that the monsters no longer threatened Paradis.

When Floch interrupted Shadis’ lesson, he coerced the cadets into beating their mentor to a pulp. Surma was among the most willing to land the first blow, and many of his comrades followed his example quickly. Floch’s impromptu recruitment drive proved a major boon to Yeagerist numbers.

6 Rio

Rio first appeared in Dot Pyxis’ Alpha Squad, a group tasked with protecting Eren during the battle for Trost. As its sole survivor, she had placed a great personal value on his success and clearly cared a great deal for Paradis.

Rio appeared sporadically throughout the remainder of the series, such as during Eren’s military trial and after the battle for Shiganshina. She was last seen pledging her allegiance to the Yeagerist cause alongside a crop of fresh soldiers. Although Rio’s ultimate fate is uncertain, it’s likely that she did not survive the explosion set off by Keith Shadis and Theo Magath at the harbor.

5 Louise

As a young girl, Louise was saved from Dino Reeves when Mikasa forced him to move his cart out of the way. She dedicated her life to Paradis’ protection ever since, and to her, that meant joining the Yeagerists.

Despite the fundamental differences Louise had with her role model, she still fought alongside the heroes when warding off Zeke’s freshly summoned Titan horde after the failed invasion by Marley. Unfortunately, Louise suffered fatal wounds from the battle, and she ultimately died while being treated. With her last breath, Louise proudly declared that she had no regrets.

4 Samuel

Samuel was a veteran Scout who appeared in the battle for Trost. Although frequently accompanying Daz, he lacked his comrade’s timidity and is much more competent in a fight. During the attack on the Yeagerist compound, Samuel reluctantly shot Armin since he knew of his true intentions.

However, because the bullet passed through his jaw and on account of Armin’s Titan healing abilities, the attack did not prove fatal. Connie reacted immediately by cutting Samuel down in spite of their previous status as friends and comrades-in-arms.

3 Zeke Yeager

Zeke Yeager was instrumental in the Yeagerists’ ambitions to unleash the Rumbling. His Titan spinal fluid crushed the reigning governance and made a military takeover significantly less costly. Further, Zeke’s royal blood made him essential for Eren’s dream, as Historia was the only other person capable of helping him.

The most ironic aspect of Zeke’s affiliation with the Yeagerists is that he didn’t know the extent of their intentions until it was too late to stop them. Zeke arrogantly believed that, if absolutely necessary, Ymir would listen to him over his half-brother — unfortunately, the exact opposite ended up happening.

2 Eren Yeager

Eren was the leader and namesake of the Yeagerist movement. His philosophy of preemptively crushing the world inspired many Eldians, especially those who felt vindictive about their pasts or scared for the future. Surprisingly, Eren had been fairly uninvolved with actual Yeagerist activities.

Aside from an off-screen conversation he had with Floch, Eren mostly kept to himself ever since his Liberio arrest. When the Rumbling began, Eren abandoned his soldiers on the ground for the sake of taking his mission worldwide. Given that Eren allowed his friends to stop him, it’s arguable that he never even fully committed to the cause he started in the first place.

1 Floch

Floch was the face of the Yeagerist movement. Although only second-in-command, he capitalized on Eren’s absence by whipping the people of Paradis into a frenzy. Whether threatening non-Eldians, beating political dissenters, or even fighting against powerful Titan shifters, the Yeagerists could not have survived without Floch’s ability to organize them.

Given that he was the sole survivor of Erwin’s charge against Zeke, he also possessed the prestige necessary in order to rally the troops to the cause of complete Eldian supremacy. All things considered, however, Floch can be described as the single most noxious character in Attack on Titan.
