Armin, Mikasa, Levi, and the rest of the remaining Scouts and Titan wielders make a last-ditch effort to put a stop to Eren and save the world. 1 “We’re The Scout Regiment. Scouts Never Know When To Quit!”

After being utterly defeated by Eren and his new abilities using the Founding Titan, the last-chance heroes are scattered to the winds, hanging on by a thread. Jean and Reiner find themselves hanging above the colossal titans below and must look their hopelessness in the eye, fearing that there is nothing they can do.

Reiner’s resolve falters, and he looks to Jean for answers. Jean replies with this line, letting all his fear out and still deciding to follow through because the Scout Regiment doesn’t know any better, which matches Jean’s character perfectly.
2 “Did The Lives You Gave In Sacrifice Exist To Crush Other Lives Underfoot?”

Levi’s conviction is often portrayed to be made out of stone. Throughout the entire series, Levi has remained a constant tip of the spear that belonged to Erwin Smith.

Even after the death of his superior and best friend, Levi carried the passion and dedication left behind by his friends and charged forward as only a scout can. However, when facing the devastation caused by Eren’s plan, he questions if the effort of his comrades and the future they strove to create came at the cost of millions of lives.
3 “It’s Because I’m An Idiot. A Garden Variety Idiot Who Got His Hands On Power.”

It is revealed that with all his bravado, Eren was still just the boy who wanted to be free and conquer the walls he had known all his life. In a heart-to-heart with Armin, he admits that he can barely stand himself knowing what he’s done and what he’s about to do. The endless sea of blood he’s spilled is only outmatched by the shame he feels for spilling it in his friend’s name.
With a final bit of self-reflection, Eren admits that he began the rumbling for a much more selfish reason than he realized, because he could.
4 “You Were All I Ever Needed.”

During the climax of the final episode, the survivors of the rumbling rejoice as Eren Jaeger’s plan is stopped just short of murdering the entire world. Armin, Reiner, and Mikasa succeeded in erasing Titans from the world, thanks to Eren. Reiner, now just a man with no honor to bring home to his family, confronts his mother and prepares for her disappointment in him no longer being the Armored Titan.
To Reiner’s surprise, his mother embraces him and cries, apologizing for taking him for granted. This is a beautiful moment for Reiner, who had one of the best character arcs in the entire series.
5 “I’m A Slave To Freedom.”

Attack on Titan makes some shocking reveals during the final episodes and shows a side of Eren never shown before while also granting viewers a peek behind the curtain.

While in the paths with Eren and Armin, a line of dialogue embodies Eren as a character, giving a clear picture of his motive and reasoning behind his course of action. This quote poses the question, how far is too far to go for one’s freedom?
6 “Those Who Can’t Abandon Anything Can’t Change Anything.”

Eren and Armin’s friendship is one of the strongest features in the series, both craving the freedom they were deprived of while being prisoners to the walls of Paradis.

As the conflict ramps up, Armin turns his judgment on himself and adapts, realizing he can not move forward clinging to the past. At the same time, Armin has always tried to achieve an outcome that keeps everyone’s needs in mind. But with the stakes higher than they’ve ever been, Armin must let go of Eren or lose everything.
7 “This Was The Resolution You Gave Your Hearts For.”
Levi Ackerman
As the curtain draws to a close, and the final fight ends with eighty percent of the world’s population decimated, the survivors of the rumbling celebrate a melancholy victory. Ghosts of the past visit Connie, Jean, and Levi, paying their respects after carrying their wills toward the future.
Levi is met by all those who fell, trying to bring a brighter future to fruition. Levi pays homage to his comrades the best way he knows how and drops this gem out of respect.
