One Piece Episode 1111 answered one of the biggest questions that fans had regarding the Egghead Island arc. Ever since it was confirmed that there is a traitor on the island, fans have been racking their brains to figure out the individual’s identity. The biggest hint that they had was that the turncoat was one of the satellites.
However, there was simply not enough evidence to down one of them. After waiting for weeks, fans finally learned the identity of the person responsible for causing so much damage on Egghead Island, and it was none other than York, the embodiment of Vegapunk’s greed.
York’s Betrayal
Towards the end of the episode, York finally shows her face to Stella. This happens after she shot Shaka multiple times, who was the person closest to figuring out the identity of the traitor. Shaka knew that the traitor could only be one of the satellites, as the others failed to override the orders given to the Seraphim.
If York had not killed him, Shaka would have rescued Stella or, worse, called for backup, after which York would have been knee-deep in trouble. Seeing York flummoxed Vegapunk, as he couldn’t understand why she would do something rash. But his doubts were cleared by York.
The Reason
Vegapunk and his satellites had visited Marijoa, the home of the Celestial Dragons. Normally, it is impossible for a person to enter the Holy Land as it is heavily guarded, but the higher-ups made an exception for the most brilliant mind in the world. Chances are that the Five Elders were responsible for extending the invitation, as they might have wanted to know the progress on a particular weapon. During the satellites’ visit, they saw the Celestial Dragons and how they treated others. A regular person would be put off by seeing the abhorrent behavior of the Celestial Dragons, but that wasn’t the case for York.
She grew envious of them and desired to lead a life like them. So, she schemed to deceive Stella and the other satellites and hand them over to the World Government. She called the Five Elders and told them about Vegapunk’s transgression and how he dabbled in things related to the Void Century. York was planning to kill the rest of the satellites, as she believed that it would be sufficient even if just one of them lived. The World Government agreed to it as it could not afford to lose the advanced technology produced by the smartest character in One Piece.
Will She Be Successful?
Now that the renegade has been revealed, the biggest question on everyone’s lips is, will York be triumphant in the mission? At the moment, the odds favor her, but things might change soon. In Episode 1111, Robin, Chopper, and Atlas were looking for clues regarding Vegapunk’s disappearance. As they continued their search, Atlas mentioned the existence of an abandoned room, which piqued Robin’s interest. Atlas said that it had been locked for such a long time that the chances of someone being there were low. However, Robin told her that it was still worth checking out.
In the next episode, Robin’s group will likely reach the abandoned laboratory. It spells trouble for York, as she is completely unaware of Robin’s decision to go to the room. So, the satellite will be caught off-guard, and she will possibly be captured by Robin. The latter is a powerful fighter who managed to beat Black Maria in Wano. Considering York has no special powers, Robin can easily subdue her. The only leverage that York has is Stella. She could use him as a hostage to try to make her way out of the mess.
What Will Happen Next On Egghead?
Chaos On Egghead Continues To Brew
Most likely, York will be stopped by Robin and her allies, which means Stella will be free to leave. The next course of action will be to stop the Seraphim from rampaging on Egghead Island. Already, the weapons have destroyed a chunk of the laboratory, and if they are not stopped, there will be casualties. Once the Seraphim are halted, the Straw Hats need to regroup and get off Egghead quickly because the Marines are on their way. The Marines are being led by Admiral Kizaru, previously responsible for splitting the crew on the Sabaody Archipelago. Accompanying Kizaru are several Vice Admirals and Saint. Jaygarcia Saturn.
If the heroes fail to leave the island in time, they will have to face even more powerful opponents. The Straw Hats are already tired from fighting CP-0 and the Seraphim, and they will want to rest. Unfortunately, that won’t be possible. They will have to prioritize taking Vegapunk and his satellites away from Egghead. If they fail to escape before the arrival of the Marines, the Straw Hats will have no choice but to stay and fight their enemies.
