Given that Hell’s Paradise is a show about criminals trying to beat each other in finding a mythical Elixir of Life on a mysterious island riddled with deadly organisms, death is to be expected. However, the deaths in Hell’s Paradise aren’t just the typical cuts or stabs, the show is riddled with brutality.
While the criminals aren’t necessarily known for their gentle behavior and kind heart, they are not always the ones who promote brutality. The mysterious island of Shinsenkyo houses various monsters, including the mystical Tensen. Adding the skillful Asaemon into the fray, the show basically has come up with the perfect recipe for disaster.
10 Akaginu’s Seduction Attempt Backfired on Her
Akaginu was a criminal who was also known as the “Cannibal Courtesan.” Her crimes all involved luring, murdering, and cannibalizing her victims. Needless to say, her strength lay in seduction and manipulation. Unfortunately for her, that didn’t always work.
Yamada Asaemon Shion was assigned as Akaginu’s executioner. Obviously, he also became the prime target of Akaginu’s antics. But Shion wasn’t a fan of it. The moment she mounted the blind Asaemon, the latter drew her sword and decapitated her. He then left her head and body to bathe in her own pool of blood.
9 Moro Makiya Became Yuzuhira’s Test Subject
Another master of manipulation was Moro Makiya, who supposedly created his own cult. It was even strong enough to possibly overthrow the shogun, which led to Makiya’s arrest and being sent to death row. However, the tables turned for Makiya at Shinsenkyo.
Makiya met Yuzuhira on the mystical island, and charmed by her charisma, he agreed to do her bidding. Yuzuhira then used this opportunity to turn Makiya into a test subject. She manipulated him into engaging with the various creatures on the island, including the human-faced bugs. This ultimately led to Makiya being turned into a flower-infested corpse, left to be consumed by the island’s bugs.
8 Twisted Keiun Was Skewered by His Own Collection
Twisted Keiun was one of the worst criminals in Hell’s Paradise. Even before being sent to Shinsenkyo, he already killed a hundred weapon users. He also had a twisted hobby of collecting his victims’ weapons.
When he arrived at Shinsenkyo, he immediately went on the offensive. He attacked Gabimaru as soon as they met, and he certainly went for the kill. Gabimaru could’ve died if he hadn’t perfected the art of survival. While their fight was off-screened, the show couldn’t hide the bruatility of Twisted Keiun’s fate. After all, the mass murderer was shown skewered by his own collection.
7 Yamada Asaemon Tesshin’s Death Cut Deep
The Asaemon are the executioners assigned to keep the criminals in check. While they all bear the Yamada Asaemon name, they aren’t necessarily blood-related. They take in students who are willing to learn the way of the sword and have talent.
Yamada Asaemon Tesshin was Yamada Asaemon Shion’s first disciple. He was nothing but a wild hoodlum when Shion took him in. With the Yamada Clan’s teaching and Tesshin’s talent, he eventually became a formidable talent. However, he eventually once again went astray. The next time Shion and Tesshin met, Shion was tasked with beheading his former disciple.
6 Horubo Was Snapped Like a Twig
Most criminals are formidable because of their unique abilities. For instance, Gabimaru and Yuzuriha have their ninjutsu, while Rokurota has his monstrous physique. Likewise, Horubo also had a trump card up his sleeves.
The Killer Buddha could stretch his body long and thin. He would then curl his body on his victim and suffocate them to death, and Chobei was his target amongst the criminals. Unfortunately, the bandit leader was a bad match-up for him. Chobei simply brute forced his way out of Horubo’s constriction and snapped him like a twig.
5 Yamada Asaemon Genji Was Gored Through the Stomach
The Yamada Asaemon are known for their superb skills at performing executions. They are well-trained and have their way with the sword. Unfortunately, not all of them have the same point of view.
Yamada Asaemon Genji, to be specific, had a very traditional line of thinking. But just as he was lecturing Sagiri about her supposed rightful place, they were attacked by Rokurota. The giant made short work of him, gouging his side with a single slap.
4 Yamada Asaemon Tenza Was Punctured Multiple Times
Yamada Asaemon Tenza, alongside Nurugai and Shion, were the first to witness the Tensen’s terrifying might. They were discovered by Zhu Jin, and despite their attempts to resist, they failed to escape the deity.
Zhu Jin cornered the three, forcing them to desperate ends. In order to let Nurugai and Shion live, Tenza decided to face the Tensen. Unfortunately, he wasn’t strong enough to defeat him. Zhu Jin swiftly punctured Tenza’s throat, stomach and sides in a cross pattern.
3 Gabimaru Showed His Barbarism During the Elimination Round
There were only a handful of criminals sent to Shinsenkyo, but there used to be more of them. Since there were only limited resources and manpower, the higher-ups decided to hold an elimination round. They made the criminals eliminate one another until only a few of them were left.
It was at that time that Gabimaru truly showcased what he was capable of. Despite having his hands tied, Gabimaru easily clawed at a few criminals’ throats, and there was even a point where he bit someone’s throat off.
2 Rokurota Was Dismembered and Suffocated
Rokurota is undeniably one of the strongest criminals who set foot at Shinsenkyo. However, even this monstrous giant is not exempted from death. No matter how impenetrable his body is supposed to be, he is still human.
The one who ultimately ended his life was Gabimaru and Sagiri. The two joined forces in order to eliminate the giant. Gabimaru acted as bait and distraction, while Sagiri slashed at Rokurota. Gabimaru eventually set the forest aflame, suffocating the giant. And when Rokurota ultimately fell on his knees, Sagiri chopped his head off. She then placed the head on her lap as she comforted the dead villain.
1 Yamada Asaemon Eizen Became Rokurota’s Sustenance
Since Rokurota was supposed to be the strongest among the criminals, it was only proper for the strongest Asaemon to be assigned to him. That happened to be Yamada Asaemon Eizon, the clan’s leader. However, it was this assignment that ultimately killed him.
Right after entering the island, Rokurota became hungry. He then immediately attacked Eizen. While Eizen wasn’t necessarily caught off-guard, he still stood without a chance against the giant. Rokurota made quick work of him and proceeded to consume half of his remains.
