The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked

The anime medium is no stranger to larger-than-life personalities; however, sometimes, these personalities are housed in even larger bodies. Gigantic characters are no stranger to the medium, and given anime’s emphasis on power-scaling and consistent use of fantasy tropes, their size usually fulfills a major need in their narratives.

Whether they be the main character of their respective series or a minor obstacle for the protagonist to overcome, the stature of anime behemoths is mindbogglingly large. At its most extreme, some characters can even reach the size of entire galaxies, challenging the boundaries of their universes in the process.

10 Weisslogia (Fairy Tail)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_0

The dragons featured in the Fairy Tail franchise are enormous, with their physical stature serving as a representation of the immense strength that they wield. Of these beings, none are larger than Weisslogia, the White Dragon.

Weisslogia wields White Dragon Slayer Magic, and at one point, the dragon was the mortal enemy of Acnologia. Unfortunately, the villain was successful in claiming the souls of dragonkind, forcing them to survive in the bodies of those who use Dragon Slayer Magic. Were it not for the dragons’ brief appearance in the Tartaros Arc, Weisslogia’s impressive stature may have remained a legend rather than an actuality.

9 Pica (One Piece)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_1

The Donquixote Pirates are one of the most fearsome elements in One Piece‘s New World, and among their ranks are numerous Devil Fruit users. One of these individuals, Pica, wields the Stone-Stone Fruit, which allows him to merge with and manipulate any stone that he comes in contact with.

During the events of the Dressrosa Arc, Pica’s powers are on full display. He moves entire landscapes in his fight against the Straw Hat Pirates, and at his largest, his stone body is hundreds of meters high. Were it not for Roronoa Zoro, Pica could have very well tipped the scales in Donquixote Doflamingo’s favor.

8 Ten-Tails (Naruto: Shippuden)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_2

In the first episode of Naruto, the show introduces the Nine-Tail Fox. As the series continues, more of these Tailed Beasts are introduced, culminating in the reveal that these powerful beings used to exist as a single entity — the Ten-Tails. The Ten-Tails originally formed when Kaguya Otsutsuki merged with the God Tree, and it took the combined forces of the Sage of Six Paths and his brother to stop the creature.

Like the other Tailed Beasts, the Ten-Tails is massive, towering over massive creations like the Uchiha Clan’s Susanoos. Were it not for the combined efforts of Naruto, Sasuke, and several Kage, the reincarnated beast would have likely destroyed the entire world. Thankfully, they were ultimately able to seal the Ten-Tails away once again, hopefully ending its reign of terror for good.

7 Eren Jaeger (Attack On Titan)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_3

Attack on Titan begins with Eren Jaeger and his friends living peacefully inside the Walls of Paradis Island. However, as soon as the Colossal Titan leers over these walls, it becomes painfully obvious that the protagonists’ lives are going to change forever. In an effort to fight back, Eren eventually gains the power of multiple Titans, assuming a new, monstrous form in the process.

Determining the exact size of Eren Jaeger’s new Titan form is difficult, but at the very least, it’s obvious that he is magnitudes larger than the Colossal Titan. To even stand a chance of stopping him, the rest of the world — including the other Titan holders — will need to band together.

6 Elder Centipede (One-Punch Man)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_4

Saitama goes up against a host of powerful beings during the events of One-Punch Man, including some who are significantly larger than him or any of his allies. Among these villains, none are larger than Elder Centipede, the Dragon-level threat that appears in One-Punch Man’s second season.

Elder Centipede is incredibly long and covers hundreds of meters when fully stretched out. Despite his size, he’s also incredibly fast, and were it not for the help of Saitama, the villain would have likely defeated Genos, Bang, and Bomb — three S-Class level heroes.

5 Zunesha (One Piece)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_5

One Piece‘s main characters, the Straw Hat Pirates, encounter a plethora of islands and creatures during their journey, but none are nearly as gargantuan as Zunesha. The creature hails from a race of long-legged elephants, and thanks to its tremendous height, it is capable of wading across entire oceans.

Zunesha is at least 800 years old, having known the mysterious character known as Joy Boy almost a millennium before the events of One Piece. Although it carries the entire island of Zou upon its back, Zunesha is more than capable of defending itself, as evidenced when it easily dispatched Jack of the Beast Pirates.

4 King Ghidorah (Godzilla: The Planet Eater)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_6

The Godzilla franchise has undergone numerous iterations throughout the years, but one of the most innovative takes on the kaiju came in the form of Godzilla: The Planet Eater. The feature-length film places Godzilla on a planetary scale, and at one point, the legendary creature goes up against his largest opponent to date — King Ghidorah.

King Ghidorah spans tens of kilometers, taking the form of a golden, serpentine beast with features that resemble those of a dragon. His size trumps that of even Godzilla, although the titular kaiju ultimately comes out victorious in the pair’s final battle.

3 Getter Emperor (70zl5v5″ title=”getter robo arc”>Getter Robo Arc)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_7

Getter Emperor is a powerful mecha from 70zl5v5″ title=”getter robo arc”>Getter Robo Arc, a 13-episode sci-fi series released in 2021. The powerful creation represents the pinnacle of technology, and it is the combined form of the three main Getter Machines piloted by Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Benkei Kuruma.

By utilizing Getter Rays as an energy source, Getter Emperor can use an array of devastating weapons — some of which include energy beams, explosive projectiles, and powerful melee weapons. Larger than an entire planet, few anime machinations in history rival the mecha’s size.

2 Super Shenron (Dragon Ball Super)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_8

Throughout the Dragon Ball franchise, Goku and his allies collect the titular Dragon Balls and use them to summon the almighty dragon known as Shenron. The mystical dragon can grant almost any wish, but there are a few exceptions. Shenron’s power is finite, and it cannot break the laws of the universe that it resides in. That being said, an even larger draconic entity exists that is not bound by these laws — Super Shenron.

Super Shenron is summoned by using the Super Dragon Balls, and when he appears, his body dwarfs the galaxies that surround him. Without a doubt, he’s the largest character in the entire Dragon Ball franchise, and considering his wishes have seemingly no restrictions, it’s safe to say that his power is equally impressive.

1 Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Gurren Lagann The Movie: The Lights In The Sky Are Stars)

The 10 Largest Characters In Anime History, Ranked_9

In an effort to combat the looming threat of the Anti-Spiral, the protagonists of Gurren Lagann must devise a way to combat the omnipotent villain. By combining the energies of the Tengen Toppa Gunmen, they create Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, a colossal, mecha-like collection of energy that dwarfs nearby galaxies.

The Anti-Spiral pushes Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann to its limits, but by the end of Gurren Lagann The Movie: The Lights in the Sky Are Stars, the heroes come out victorious. Gurren Lagann’s author, Kazuki Nakashima, stated that Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is larger than the observable universe, so it’s unlikely that an anime character will surpass its size anytime soon.
