In the previous chapter of Ways to Satisfy a Devil, Vanessa wakes up after having a nightmare, and she wonders how long it has been since she had a good night’s sleep. Vanessa found it difficult to calm down, and she concluded that it was probably because she had dreamt about one of her former lives for a long time.

We see a flashback of Vanessa remembering her hellish life as a Knight in one of her lives. Vanessa caught the eye of the leader of a murderous gang in that life, and she was abducted by him and kept in captivity.

The man took her and did everything he could to break her spirit and make her complacent. After enduring days of torture and mental trauma, as well as conditioning and gaslighting, Vanessa’s spirit and mind were completely broken.
