When young Itadori swallows a finger to protect his friends from cursed spirits with a penchant for destruction, he unknowingly joins a battle against cursed spirits while harboring one himself. Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime series that illustrates the battles in a world plagued with cursed spirits who want to purge it of humans and replace it with curses, and Jujutsu sorcerers who must fight against these curses and protect their world.

During the development of the series, characters were pitted against enemies that opposed their cause. From the greatest jujutsu sorcerer, Gojo Satoru, to the newbie Itadori, the characters in the series are brimming with potential. However, as it is with the battles they come across, there can only be one victor, and as the case may be, in some situations, some individuals have never won in the Jujutsu Kaisen series.

5 Jogo

The Hot-headed Volcano

  • Jogo vs. Gojo.

The volcano-erupting curse is one of the main antagonists in the series. He is part of a revolution of cursed spirits that want to rid the world of jujutsu sorcerers and humans. Jogo is an unregistered special-grade cursed spirit who possesses a significant amount of power and cursed energy, which would make it difficult for most jujutsu sorcerers fighting against him to defeat him.

Jogo has so far fought against only one opponent whom he underestimated, that is, ironically, Gogo Satoru, the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer in the series. His pride came before his fall because, as seen in the first season, he was greatly overpowered by Gojo. In the second season, while trying to seal Gojo, the cursed spirit was again overpowered by the latter, who killed one of his comrades in the process. Jogo’s escape from death was narrow because of the interruptions caused by Hanami and pseudo-Geto.

4 Hanami

Nature Personified

  • Hanami vs. Todo and Itadori.
  • Hanami vs. Gojo.

The tree-like special-grade cursed spirit is part of a revolution of powerful curses who believe that humanity should be replaced with their kind. Hanami’s reason for joining the revolution was to rid the planet she cares about of humans who have abused it for thousands of years. Hers is a sacrifice that will replace the earth with cursed spirits who will respect and preserve it.

At the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc, Hanami fought against some students of Jujutsu High. Megumi discovered Hanami’s weakness to be the branches protruding from her eye sockets, which became his target for her destruction. However, their fight was interrupted by Itadori and Todo until Gojo Satoru arrived. Gojo released his Hollow Technique: Purple from afar, which destroyed a large portion of the forest and nearly exorcised Hanami. In the second season, while trying to seal Gojo, Hanami and Jogo served as bait to lure him into the trap. Gojo grabbed Hanami by the branches growing out of her eye sockets, knowing that to be her weak point, and ripped them out of her face before exorcising her.

3 Haruta Shigemo

A Sword’s Best Friend

  • Haruta vs. Nanami.

Haruta is an antagonist in the series who prefers fighting weaker opponents to fighting strong ones. The blond character appears childlike and sadistic as he derives pleasure from people’s pain. He uses a sword with a handle shaped like a human hand that possesses the ability to move on its own and also help the wielder detect people in the vicinity. His character played a role in the plan to seal Gojo Satoru.

Haruta seemed to outwit and overpower Nobara during their fight before it was interrupted by Nanami, who was enraged because he had guessed Haruta killed several of the assistant managers he had come across. Nanami defeated Haruta effortlessly, leaving the latter unconscious with a face severely bloodied and battered.

2 Mechamaru

Mecha Idea Brought To Life

  • Mechamaru vs. Panda.
  • Mechamaru vs. Mahito.

Kokichi created the mechanical puppet due to the Heavenly Restriction placed on him, which made him too fragile to use his body. Mechamaru served as Kokichi’s physical aide, whom the latter controlled with his Puppet Manipulation technique. During the Spirit Bash Race, Mechamaru and Panda fought because of Mechamaru’s insecurity and resentment.

Despite Mechamaru’s skilled puppet technique, he was defeated by Panda, one of his classmates at Jujutsu High. Mechamaru’s second and last battle was against Mahito after his contract with the special grade cursed spirit. Mechamaru contracted with Mahito to heal him in exchange for information on Jujutsu High and Gojo Satoru. After Mahito healed his soul manipulation technique, allowing Mechamaru full use of his body, a fight ensued between both characters, destroying both Mechamaru and Kokichi.

1 Momo Nimishiya

Little Miss ‘Magic’

  • Momo vs. Nobara.

Momo is a semi-grade two jujutsu sorcerer at the Kyoto Jujutsu High. Despite appearing to be easily intimidated by the students at Tokyo Jujutsu High, the small and reserved character shared the belief that Itadori Yuji was dangerous and allied with her classmates to kill him. This belief led to a rivalry between her and Nobara Kugisaki.

Momo and her classmates used the Spirit Bash Race at the Kyoto Goodwill Event as an avenue to carry out their plan. During the competition, she and Nobara got into a fight which she appeared to be winning with flight and distance as an advantage over the latter. Just in time, Nobara outwitted her with her nail technique, pummeling her to near death before Momo was saved by one of her classmates.
