The Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Movie has many memorable lines, despite getting poor reviews. The film is actually comprised of the last two episodes of the Entertainment District arc, which are already available to stream, and the first episode of the Swordsmith Village arc, to be released on April 9th.
Although many fans don’t consider it a true movie, the episodes showcase stunning animation and music that make it worth going to the theaters to experience it on the big screen. The episodes deliver some powerful and heart-wrenching lines, as well as some of the classic humor Demon Slayer fans have grown to love.
10 “I Will Decide For Myself Whether Or Not I’m Happy!”
Nezuko Kamado
After Tanjiro fell unconscious during his battle against Gyutaro, he apologized to everyone for failing them. However, Nezuko appeared in front of them to tell him to stop apologizing since he had constantly done so his whole life. Tanjiro would apologize for their family’s lack of wealth, or because she didn’t have fancy clothes.
Nezuko insisted that these things weren’t necessary to make her happy, as they paled in comparison to having him by her side. While it’s not clear if this is truly Nezuko speaking, it shows that their sibling relationship isn’t just Tanjiro trying to protect her or find a cure. Nezuko has been there to support him as well, both in and outside of battle.
9 “Shifting The Position Of My Internal Organs Is Nothing But Child’s Play For Me!”
Inosuke Hashibira
Inosuke has the ferocity of a wild beast, as he has been capable of withstanding more than most people can. Despite being stabbed from behind by an Upper Rank demon, he was able to react in time to prevent the blow from being fatal.
Inosuke proclaimed that he was able to easily change the position of his internal organs. This implies that Inosuke has not only practiced moving his organs around, but he was able to shift his heart out of the way in the blink of an eye. It’s both impressive and hilarious to hear him boast about it.
8 “This Whole Time, I’ve Been Waiting For This!”
Tanjiro Kamado
As Gyutaro toyed with Tanjiro, Tanjiro effectively gave the impression that his spirit was broken. With no other swordsmen to back him up, he took multiple blows from the demon, and fled while carrying Nezuko’s box.
When Tanjiro seemed to be at his lowest, he revealed that despite having such horrible wounds and terrible odds, he still had a card to play. He used one of his famous headbutts against the demon and delivered a blow with the poisoned kunai. It’s one of Tanjiro’s coolest moments, as this strategic planning made Tanjiro come extremely close to beheading Gyutaro.
7 “You’re Kidding. Am I Going To Die Without Saying My Last Words?”
Tengen Uzui
At first, the future didn’t seem too bright for Tengen. He not only sustained significant injuries, but he was infected by Gyutaro’s poison. Assuming that he was going to die, Tengen tried to speak his last words. His three wives didn’t get to hear what he intended to say, because Suma was too busy wailing at the top of her lungs.
The noise only increased when Makio started yelling at her to let Tengen speak. Tengen was horrified that they didn’t give him a chance to say his last words since the poison made his tongue stiff by then, but Nezuko thankfully saved him after this bit of dark humor.
6 “Try To Get Along. In This World, You Two Siblings Have No One But Each Other.”
Tanjiro Kamado
After Daki and Gyutaro were beheaded, they started hurling insults and blaming each other for their loss. The argument escalated to Gyutaro telling Daki that he wished she was never born, but Tanjiro put a hand over his mouth to stop him.
Tanjiro insisted that Gyutaro never felt that way. He was one of the few people who understood their struggles, as well as the protective nature of an older brother. He reminded them of their past, and his words also helped the siblings ultimately make up and stay together in the afterlife. It’s a deeply emotional scene that shows that although Tanjiro doesn’t forgive demons for their mistakes, he’s kind enough to help them find some sort of peace in the end.
5 “My Only Regret As A Human… It Was You, Ume.”
Gyutaro
Gyutaro grew up with nothing. People were disgusted by him, and as a result, he had to learn to be tough and aggressive to get anything. Since he and Daki lost their mother to illness, Gyutaro was tasked with raising his sister, imparting the harsh life lessons that he learned.
Towards the end of his life, he admitted that while he loved being a demon, he regretted raising Daki to be like him. Gyutaro blamed his teachings for Daki’s unfortunate fate, but Daki never really blamed him for anything.
4 “So, I Must Be Hallucinating Inosuke Stuck On The Ceiling Above Me.”
Tanjiro Kamado
After his battle against Gyutaro, Tanjiro went into a coma for 2 months. Everyone was worried about him, since Inosuke and Zenitsu woke up before he did. Inosuke seemed to be in great condition, enough to be hanging from Tanjiro’s ceiling.
When Tanjiro pointed him out, Inosuke was impressed by how perceptive Tanjiro was. However, this had nothing to do with perception, as Tanjiro was still laying in bed and facing the ceiling. Tanjiro woke up to a lot of commotion, but the humor was a nice break from the intense battles.
3 “And Here I Thought We Could Bond In Our Nakedness.”
Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro has always been insistent on making Genya Shinazugawa his friend, but Genya was never receptive to Tanjiro’s attempts. When Tanjiro saw Genya pulling out teeth in the hot spring, he was quick to jump in with him.
Although Genya insulted him and shoved his head under the water, Tanjiro was only disappointed that his attempts to befriend him failed. He was under the impression that spending time in the hot spring together would help them form a bond, but when it didn’t work, Tanjiro noted that relationships were hard.
2 “I Heard He Has A Good Sense Of Smell, So Maybe He’ll Wake Up If I Put It Close To Him.”
Goto
Goto is part of the Demon Slayer Corp’s cleanup brigade, and is a character meant to represent people who are absolutely ordinary. What makes this character hilarious are his reactions to the unreasonable abilities and strange personalities of the surrounding characters.
Goto was considerate enough to bring Tanjiro some pricey castella, knowing that Tanjiro had a sensitive nose and hoping that it would wake him up. His kind gesture was wasted, as Tanjiro woke up and Goto ended up spilling the food all over him.
1 “I Joined So I Could Find A Gentleman Who Would Marry Me For Life!”
Mitsuri Kanroji
Most demon slayers are motivated to enter the profession because they experienced a tragedy caused by a demon. Said tragedy is what motivates them to keep innocent people from experiencing the same pain. Although Mitsuri holds a deep love for other people, she had no luck with romance due to her colossal strength.
She became a Hashira because she wanted to find a husband that was stronger than her, as she had been previously rejected by men who were put off by her natural power. Although this motivation initially seems shallow on the surface, she fights fiercely to protect other people and shows limitless kindness to humans.
